Background

What is Planterior?

Planterior is a new term combining Plant and Interior. It means all work to create naturalistic indoor spaces through the use of various functional plants, which helps people physically, mentally, and socially. Planterior helps our home more peaceful while reminiscent of nature by blending plants and interior design in unique, stylish ways.

Houseplant Industry is thriving

Indoor plants are those plants which are usually grown in houses and offices and are mainly used for decorative purposes. In the U.S., houseplant sales have increased 50% in the last three years to $1.7 billion, according to the National Gardening Association.People are increasingly living in tight spaces in increasingly tight cities so access to nature is much reduced. Indoor plant sales are booming as a result of urbanization, interior design trends, and millennials’ desire to have something to nurture and care for. There had been a big trend for wellness within the home. People have a desire to reconnect with nature.

- The app helps users acquire the proper plants they are looking for in a specific area and condition.
- Suggest selecting pots and soil that suits each plant.
- Using AR through the app, users can place plants to visualize the placement in their current room.
- Deliver healthy, ready-to-go plants to the door and set up with the tips and tricks users need.

Age: 19     |     Occupation: College Student

As the new semester has begun, Eve moved to a new city. Since most of her classes are online and COVID19 makes it harder to interact with people, it's not easy for her to adapt to a new city. She started to feel depressed. She wants to raise a puppy, but it's going to cost too much money and time. Her therapist suggested growing plants as an alternative. He said having greenery at home will heal her from having negative emotions. Olivia agreed that she could build companionship while taking care of plants. Challenges:

- First time growing plants. Lack of information.
- Looking for basic care instruction of the plant she ordered, such as watering and potting.
